Mido Dares Rose Gold: The Multifort 8 Two Crowns defies the toolwatch codes

The market for integrated sports watches has become one of the most competitive in the watchmaking industry. Every brand is making its proposal, blending Swiss traditions with contemporary design, seeking the perfect balance between aesthetics, functionality, and price. But what happens when a brand known for its robust pieces decides to inject an unexpected touch of refinement? This is exactly what Mido attempts with its new version of the Multifort 8 Two Crowns. A creation that, at first glance, seems to go against established standards… to stand out.

A bold case for a defined design

The Multifort 8 Two Crowns Rose Gold PVD by Mido fits within the tradition of integrated sports watches, while embracing a more luxurious aesthetic. The 40 mm stainless steel case is treated with rose gold PVD, a rare choice in this category of watches. The surfaces alternate between brushed and polished, highlighting the octagonal bezel edges, a strong signature of the model.

Despite its bold visual presence, its proportions remain compact, with a thickness of 9.5 mm and a lug-to-lug length of 44.86 mm, making it easily wearable on a daily basis. Practically, it features two screw-down crowns: one at 4 o’clock for the time, and the other at 2 o’clock to rotate the inner bezel.

The entire piece is protected by a double-sided anti-reflective sapphire crystal, ensuring optimal readability. Water resistance is rated to 100 meters, confirming its practical, utilitarian purpose. The watch is mounted on a textured black rubber strap, echoing the linear patterns of the dial. It also features a quick-change system and a rose gold PVD pin buckle.

A graphical and functional dial

The matte black dial adopts a horizontal striped texture, typical of the Multifort line. This pattern enhances readability while adding depth to the overall design. The applied indexes are round and trapezoidal, with white Super-LumiNova inserts to ensure good visibility in the dark.

The faceted hands, tone-on-tone with the case, also feature luminescent coating. A date window is integrated at 3 o’clock, framed for better readability. Finally, the rotating inner bezel, accessed via the 2 o’clock crown, allows for practical use in measuring time intervals.

An in-house movement from ETA

At the heart of this Multifort is the automatic Mido Caliber 72, derived from the ETA A31.111, itself an evolution of the famous ETA 2892. This movement is renowned for its reliability and finesse, with a frequency of 25,200 vibrations per hour.

It offers a comfortable 72-hour power reserve, allowing the watch to be set aside over the weekend without losing time. The addition of a Nivachron balance spring enhances resistance to magnetic fields, shocks, and temperature variations—a rare feature in this price range.

The transparent sapphire case back allows for a view of the industrial finishes of the movement, unpretentious but well-executed.

Availability and pricing

The Mido Multifort 8 Two Crowns Rose Gold PVD is now available for sale as a permanent model in the catalog. It is priced at 1,150 CHF or 1,220 EUR, a competitive price for a watch combining integrated design, optimized movement, and distinctive finishes.
