Luzan and Rybachok win silver as Ukraine claims first medal at 2026 world championships | Ukraine news


The Ukrainian duo still has another chance to climb the podium. Luzan now faces a demanding solo semifinal.

Liudmyla Luzan and Anastasiia Rybachok won Ukraine’s first medal at the 2026 Canoe Sprint World Championships, taking place in Poznań, Poland.

This is reported by Suspilne Sport.

The Ukrainian duo finished second in the women’s C-2 500-metre final. Luzan and Rybachok were 0.63 seconds behind the German winners and claimed silver medals at the world championships.

The German crew won the gold medal.

Liudmyla Luzan and Anastasiia Rybachok secured silver medals for Ukraine.

The bronze medallists finished third in the final race.

At the World Championships, the Ukrainian paddlers will also compete in the women’s C-2 200 metres. The final in this event is scheduled for Saturday, 29 August, at 17:06 Kyiv time.

Liudmyla Luzan will also compete separately in the women’s C-1 200-metre semifinal. She advanced from qualifying with the best time, and the semifinal races are set to take place on Sunday, 30 August.
