Russian ambassador tours major mining enterprises in Armenia

Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergei Kopyrkin toured two major mining enterprises in southern Armenia in what the Russian Embassy described as his annual visit to Syunik region.

The Embassy of Russia said in a press release that during the visit to the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine and the Agarak Copper Molybdenum Combine in the Syunik region, executives of the two enterprises briefed the ambassador on ongoing efforts to modernize technological processes aimed at increasing production volumes and reducing the environmental impact of production.

They also briefed him on large-scale efforts to develop the region’s social sector.

Kopyrkin was accompanied by Russian Trade Representative in Armenia Sergei Solomin, a representative of Russia’s Ministry of Economic Development, A. Ivanova, and the head of the Russian Export Center’s office in Armenia, V. Yenokyan.

The Russian Embassy described the Zangezur and Agarak copper-molybdenum combines as leading enterprises in Armenia’s mining industry, making a significant contribution to the country’s socio-economic development.
