NAGOYA, Japan – Wang Manyu beat compatriot Sun Yingsha 4-2 in an all-Chinese final to win the table tennis women’s singles gold at the 2026 Asian Games on Sunday, while China’s Huang Youzheng and Lin Shidong defeated Japan’s Tomokazu Harimoto and Hiroto Shinozuka 4-2 to claim the men’s doubles title.
In a meeting between the world’s top two women’s singles players, Wang took two closely contested opening games 11-8, 11-9. Sun responded by winning the third 13-11, but Wang rallied from four points down to take the fourth 11-9 and move within one game of the title.
Sun stayed in contention with an 11-4 win in the fifth before Wang closed out the match by taking a hard-fought sixth game 15-13.
Wang captured her second Asian Games women’s singles gold, eight years after winning it in Jakarta in 2018. Japan’s Hina Hayata and Miwa Harimoto took bronze.
“My mindset is different this time. Eight years ago, I was still in the role of a challenger,” Wang said. “The pressure was greater this time. But I think Sun and I were both able to get the job done.”
In the men’s doubles final, Huang and Lin faced Harimoto and Shinozuka, who had earlier rallied past Chinese pair Wen Ruibo and Xiang Peng in the semifinals.

The pairs were level at 2-2 after four games before Huang and Lin took the fifth 11-5. A string of errors from the Japanese pair helped the Chinese duo dominate the sixth 11-1 to seal a 4-2 victory.
“We both went into the match with the belief that we had to win. Even when we were trailing early on, we didn’t give up. We fought for every game and were prepared to battle it out over all seven games,” Lin said.
“Our teammates’ loss to them in the morning also gave us a reminder. We just focused more on our own match,” he added.
It was Lin’s second gold medal of the Asian Games after his mixed doubles triumph with Kuai Man on Saturday. He will face Chinese Taipei’s Lin Yun-ju in the men’s singles semifinal on Monday.
Japan’s Sora Matsushima and Shunsuke Togami and China’s Wen and Xiang took bronze.
