JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Craighead County residents have until Oct. 15 to pay their personal property and real estate taxes before facing a 10% penalty.
Craighead County Tax Collector Wes Eddington warned taxpayers against dropping payments into mailboxes this close to the deadline. He said mail left in personal boxes can be delayed for days before receiving a postmark.
“It’s really not safe to put it in the mail now,” Eddington said. “What the taxpayer needs to do is to carry the letter into the post office and have them manually stamp the date that you drop it off.”
Payments can be placed in a drop box outside the county courthouse in Jonesboro, or in an indoor box located in the hallway. Taxpayers who include an email address with their payment will receive a digital receipt. Payments can also be made online with an extra processing fee.
