Bitcoin Recovery Uneven, Unlikely to Top US$100,000 This Year – News and Statistics

Bitcoin may extend its rebound but is unlikely to rise above US$100,000 before the end of the year, with rising interest rates and the conflict in Iran continuing to weigh on crypto assets, according to analysts.

Alice Liu, head of research at the crypto data platform CoinMarketCap, said the worst of this year’s downturn is over, though she expects the recovery to be uneven and driven almost entirely by bitcoin. She described her outlook for crypto assets in the fourth quarter as cautiously positive.

The crypto asset class is expected to finish the year higher than its current level but below the peak reached last October, according to Liu. Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency token, has been mired in a prolonged slump this year.

After reaching a historic high of US$126,000 last October, a market rout wiped a record US$19 billion off its value, and for months afterward the coin largely traded below US$70,000, just over half its peak price.
