CME specified 250 BCH contracts for October 19

CME Group said on September 22, 2026, that it would launch Bitcoin Cash futures on October 19, 2026, pending regulatory review. The planned contract sizes were 250 BCH for the standard product and 25 BCH for the Micro product.

The contracts are derivatives that track BCH prices without requiring a holder to transfer the cryptocurrency. Their stated purpose is to give market participants a regulated venue for managing exposure to Bitcoin Cash. The October 19 date and the pending-review condition are part of CME Group’s announcement.

Mainnet activity reached 555,300 BCH across 144 blocks

The Bitcoin Cash mainnet reached block height 973,701 and recorded a network hashrate of 3.06 EH/s on October 20, 2026, according to the Bitcoin Cash Explorer. Hashrate measures the computing power used by miners to process transactions and secure the network.

The same explorer reported 555,300 BCH transacted across the latest 144 blocks and an estimated transaction rate of 0.136 transactions per second. BCHWorks noted on October 20, 2026, that Bitcoin Cash has a small network hashrate and that this raises questions about exposure to a 51 percent attack, in which a miner or group controls enough computing power to reorganize recent transactions.
