2 Jul – Andy Lau is set to receive the Silver Bauhinia Star by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR).
As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who has been in the entertainment industry for more than 40 years, has participated in more than 170 films, won numerous awards and enjoys a high reputation in the industry.
He has also been praised for his enthusiasm for public welfare, supporting the sports development of people with disabilities, and establishing charity funds to support disadvantaged groups.
It is noted that this is his second honour after receiving the Bronze Bauhinia Star in 2016. Andy was also the recipient of the Medal of Honour in 2004 as well as honoured as a “Justice of Peace” in 2008.
Meanwhile, aside from Andy, veteran actor Bowie Wu is also receiving a Bronze Bauhinia Star.
The Silver Bauhinia is the second Bauhinia Star rank in the honours system of Hong Kong, awarded to people who have taken a leading part in public affairs or voluntary work over a long period.
The presentation ceremony is scheduled for the end of the year.
