Plans to replace derelict cottage at Welney with new home

A&H Investment has applied to demolish the derelict property at Welney, near Wisbech and build a new three-bed home on the site.

A planning statement describes the existing property as “a deteriorated dwelling with severe structural issues, including partial roof collapse and instability”.

It adds: “The building is unsafe, overgrown, and unsuitable for retention.”

Similar plans for the plot on Back Lane, an unmade track off New Road in the village were agreed in 2023 but permission has now lapsed.

The statement says the renewed proposals offer “a sensitive and high-quality approach to redeveloping a deteriorated rural dwelling” and would enhance the appearance of the site.

A decision from West Norfolk Council is expected later this year.
