In March, S&P Global published its latest findings on how active fund managers performed. Once again, they showed that more than two-thirds of Australian and global managers lagged the index over one year, while the vast majority underperformed over 15 years.
The dismal showing is well documented after a brutal decade for the once-lucrative industry. But what is unappreciated – and difficult to measure – is the immense mental strain experienced by the men and women who have accepted the job of managing other people’s money.
