Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has said that Tottenham Hotspur will look to sign a number six when the transfer window reopens in June.
Postecoglou certainly has plenty of options in the middle of the park, with Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma, Pape Sarr, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp competing for just two positions in the side.
However, Gold points out that Hojbjerg is not seen as an ideal fit for Tottenham’s current system and is expected to be on his way out of the club this summer while there is also a huge question mark over Oliver Skipp’s future.
Postecoglou wants more options in midfield
The journalist further asserts that Postecoglou sees Bentancur as more of a number eight than a number six, although he does want the Uruguayan to also operate as a six if required.
As a result, Gold asserts that Tottenham will look to sign a top-quality defensive midfielder this summer. He backs up what we have heard from other sources recently by stating that Atalanta’s Ederson is one of the names on their radar.
Finally, the Football.London reporter suggests that the arrival of a number six might relegate Bissouma to a squad player next season if the Mali international does not turn around his form.

With Hojbjerg and Skipp likely to be on their way out, a number six will undoubtedly be one of Postecoglou’s priorities this summer.
Given the success Spurs have had with their recent recruits from Serie A, it seems like the club are once again looking towards the Italian market to address key positions this summer.
