“It is a real testament to our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality physical education and school sporting opportunities for all of our pupils.”
More than 630 pupils are members of school PE clubs, and over 400 have taken part in inter-school competitions across Rossendale and beyond.
The School Games Mark, launched in 2012 and facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, honours schools that excel in delivering inclusive and motivating sporting experiences that build confidence and encourage leadership.
BRGS offers a broad range of sports, with more than 540 pupils taking part in its sports day.
The school has competed in regional netball, basketball, athletics, badminton, dance, and football competitions.

Mr Johnstone praised the staff who make the programme possible.
He said: “This would not have been possible without the tireless work of our staff who devote so much of their time and energy to ensuring that the young people at our school and across the local community benefit from healthy and active lifestyles and inclusive sporting participation.”
120 pupils also volunteer as Sports Leaders.
