CoinRabbit Enables Storage, Swapping, and Borrowing with Tokenized Gold (XAUT)

Gold has survived currencies, governments, banking crises, inflationary cycles, and more than one prediction of its own irrelevance. The problem is that for an asset famous for preserving wealth, traditional gold is remarkably difficult to do anything with. You can hold it or sell it. And somewhere between the vault, the broker, the bank, and the settlement process, you start wondering why an asset associated with financial security still comes with infrastructure from another era.

Tokenized gold changes that equation. Tether Gold (XAUT) brings exposure to physical gold onto blockchain rails, while platforms such as CoinRabbit make that exposure usable within a digital-asset portfolio. On CoinRabbit, XAUT holders can store their tokens, exchange them for other supported cryptocurrencies, or use XAUT as collateral for crypto loans without first selling their gold position.

2 4 2 4Key Takeaways: Managing XAUT on CoinRabbit

  • CoinRabbit supports XAUT for storage, crypto swaps, and crypto-backed loans.
  • XAUT provides blockchain-based exposure to physical gold.
  • Tokenized gold is part of the broader real-world asset (RWA) market, which brings traditional assets into blockchain-based financial infrastructure.
  • XAUT holders can borrow against their position on CoinRabbit rather than selling it to access liquidity.

What Can You Do With XAUT on CoinRabbit?

Simply putting gold on a blockchain only solves part of the problem. An asset becomes considerably more interesting when there is something you can actually do with it. On CoinRabbit, XAUT holders can use the asset in three ways:

  1. Deposit and hold XAUT on CoinRabbit, keeping tokenized gold alongside the other digital assets they use on the platform.
  2. Swap XAUT for supported digital assets directly through the platform to rebalance between tokenized gold and crypto without first exiting into traditional financial infrastructure.
  3. Use the XAUT tokens as collateral for a CoinRabbit crypto loan. Instead of selling the position when liquidity is needed, a holder can borrow against it and maintain exposure to gold.

This is where tokenized gold starts behaving less like something stored in a vault and more like an active financial asset.

What Is Tokenized Gold?

Tokenized gold represents an interest in physical gold, allowing that exposure to be held and transferred using blockchain infrastructure. XAUT is issued by Tether Gold. Each XAUT token represents ownership of one fine troy ounce of physical gold on a specific gold bar, according to the issuer. The underlying gold is held in Switzerland. Unlike a synthetic asset designed simply to track the price of gold, XAUT’s proposition is based on physical gold backing the token.

Gold isn’t issued by a central bank, doesn’t represent a company’s earnings, and can’t be created because somebody decided the economy needed more of it. That scarcity has helped make gold a traditional store of value and portfolio diversifier. Investors have also historically turned to it during periods of monetary uncertainty, currency depreciation, and inflation. And now gold exposure exists alongside BTC, ETH, stablecoins, and other blockchain-based assets rather than occupying an entirely separate financial universe.

Tokenized Gold Is Part of a Much Bigger RWA Story

Crypto spent years building an enormous financial system around assets that were born on-chain. Now, some of the most interesting growth is happening in the opposite direction. Real-world assets, or RWAs, bring existing assets into blockchain infrastructure.

Government securities, private credit, commodities, funds, and other traditional assets are increasingly being represented on-chain. Tokenization makes assets transferable and programmable while allowing them to interact with digital financial infrastructure.

XAUT shows what this can mean for gold. Its use on platforms such as CoinRabbit demonstrates that once representation exists on-chain, gold can participate in workflows previously associated primarily with crypto.

Why Borrow Against Gold Instead of Selling It?

Selling an asset solves the immediate liquidity problem, but it also ends or reduces your exposure to that position. If the asset later appreciates, getting back in may mean doing so at a higher price. Gold is often described as an inflation hedge, although that relationship isn’t consistent over every timeframe. But investors use gold as a potential store of purchasing power and a defensive allocation when confidence in currencies or financial markets weakens.

By using XAUT as collateral on CoinRabbit, holders can access liquidity while retaining their underlying tokenized-gold position. That can be relevant for investors who need capital but don’t necessarily want their liquidity needs to dictate their long-term asset allocation.

Loans still have borrowing costs, and movements in collateral value can create liquidation risk. But tokenization gives gold holders a choice that is considerably harder to reproduce with a bar sitting in a safe.

Your Gold Doesn’t Have to Sit Still

The interesting question around tokenized gold is no longer simply whether you can put gold on a blockchain. That’s already been done. The more consequential question is what happens once it gets there. On CoinRabbit, XAUT can be stored as part of a digital-asset portfolio, swapped when allocation priorities change, or used as collateral when liquidity is needed without immediately selling the position. Gold remains gold. The investment thesis doesn’t need to be reinvented.

What changes is that an asset traditionally associated with sitting still no longer has to.
