Coleman Wong delivered a historic performance on Saturday by winning the Asian Games tennis title, a victory that should also open the door to the 2028 Olympics.

Coleman Wong has made history for his country at the Asian Games.
The Hong Kong native claimed the gold medal this Saturday, defeating Yibing Wu, ranked 111th in the ATP rankings, 6-2, 6-4 in a fairly comfortable win.
Wong on track for the 2028 Olympics
Having become the first Hong Kong player ever to win a tennis medal at the Asian Games, Wong has also taken a major step toward qualifying for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Barring a dramatic turn of events, he should be there in two years.
To officially secure his qualification, Wong simply needs to be ranked inside the top 500 when the list of qualified players is announced.
For his part, Yibing Wu fell in the final of the event for the second time after 2018. It has now been more than three decades — since Pan Bing’s back-to-back titles in 1990 and 1994 — since China last won the gold medal in the discipline.
