At the Daniel Roth suite, I had the pleasure of having Michel Navas, one of the principals of La Fabrique du Temps to introduce the Rose Gold Gilt dial installed on the Daniel Roth Extra Plat.
This is the same watch as previously already released, see our hands-on review here but with an amazing new dial. The dial in gold, but first finished in an exquisite pinstripe guilloché. This is made by an artisan using a traditional rose engine. The engraved surface is then plated with multiple layers to achieve the black colour. The Roman indices and dial number is masked during this process. The mask is then removed, revealing the indications which appear like it is emerging from the black surface. The visual on seeing it for the first time is quite amazing.
The movement is the same the standard offering.
The 38.6mm x 35.5mm and 7.7mm thick 5N rose gold case wears as perfectly as with the regular offering. The watch looks as elegant as ever in the signature Double Ellipse case. Fit, finish is to a very high level, and fully deserving of haute horlogerie.
