Parmigiani Fleurier embraces discreet luxury with a rose gold chronograph that could challenge competitors

Parmigiani Fleurier continues to expand its Tonda PF collection with a new version of the 40 mm Chronograph. Following a steel version noted for its sobriety and its highly watchmaking approach to the chic sports chronograph, the Swiss manufacture now unveils an 18-carat rose gold interpretation. This evolution profoundly changes the perception of the piece while staying true to the minimalist and sophisticated DNA of the line.

Beneath its apparent restraint, this watch conceals exceptionally refined finishing, case construction, and, above all, a high-frequency integrated movement. Parmigiani Fleurier here confirms its ambition to offer a credible alternative to the most established references in the luxury sports segment.

A compact rose gold case designed for daily elegance

The new Tonda PF Chronograph 40 mm by Parmigiani Fleurier retains the compact proportions introduced in the steel version unveiled in 2025. Its 40 mm diameter case has a thickness of 12.72 mm, balancing wrist comfort with a strong presence.

Crafted in 18-carat rose gold, the case alternates between satin-finished surfaces and polished details. Parmigiani Fleurier pays particular attention to visual contrasts with its signature fluted bezel, a hallmark of the Tonda PF collection.

The teardrop-shaped pushers and integrated lugs contribute to the model’s refined identity. The screw-down crown ensures 100 meters of water resistance, a notable level for a watch of this category.

The integrated rose gold bracelet mirrors this alternation of polished and satin finishes. Polished outer links catch the light, while brushed surfaces enhance the contemporary character of the overall design.

Mineral Blue dial with controlled minimalist style

Parmigiani Fleurier continues to explore shades of blue with a stunning Mineral Blue dial. The brand uses a hand-guilloché barleycorn pattern, adding depth and relief without ostentation.

The absence of a date window enhances the dial’s overall balance. Chronograph counters at 3 and 9 o’clock, along with the small seconds at 6 o’clock, remain seamlessly integrated. The sandblasted rings of the subdials create a subtle contrast with the guilloché background. Applied indexes and open-worked delta hands in rose gold reinforce the watch’s premium feel.

Parmigiani Fleurier also chooses to forgo luminescent material entirely, aligning with the elegant and dressy philosophy of this reference.

High-frequency caliber built for precision

At the heart of this Tonda PF Chronograph lies the manufacture caliber PF070, already known from the 42 mm version. This integrated automatic movement is one of the watch’s main selling points. Operating at 36,000 vibrations per hour (5 Hz), it allows timing to the tenth of a second. This high frequency is rare among luxury sports chronographs and demonstrates Parmigiani Fleurier’s technical ambitions.

The movement holds a COSC certification, guaranteeing chronometric performance. Its sophisticated architecture includes:

  • A column wheel ;
  • A vertical clutch ;
  • An integrated chronograph ;
  • 65-hour power reserve.

At only 6.95 mm thick, the PF070 remains relatively slim given its complexity. The sapphire caseback showcases the movement’s finishes: hand-beveled edges, sandblasted surfaces, and a 22-carat rose gold skeletonized rotor.

A price positioning that places Parmigiani Fleurier in the ultra-luxury segment

This new rose gold version of the Tonda PF Chronograph 40 mm now joins Parmigiani Fleurier’s permanent catalog under reference PFC917-2020001-100182.

This is significantly above the steel version, confirming the upmarket positioning of this rose gold iteration.
