South Africa’s gold-winning display that wowed crowds at this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show is coming home for Spring!
Stanford, South Africa (07 June 2026) – South Africans celebrated loud and proud in May, when our ‘flower king’, Leon Kluge, and his team of green thumbs, won gold at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, where they also scooped the Best Exhibit in the Great Pavilion title.
That’s 40 gold medals for South Africa at Chelsea now!
The display, ‘Life After Fire’, drew from the fynbos of the Cape and the fires that drive regeneration across the landscape. Over 20,000 stems of fresh cut flowers, charred wood, Protea skeletons, and a cast of beautiful indigenous blooms made up a display that clearly left its mark on the judges.

In exciting news for all who’ve been eyeing the incredible photos, those gold-claiming Chelsea flowers are coming home!
Just as last year’s display was brought back for South Africans to enjoy in person, Leon Kluge and his team will be recreating ‘Life After Fire’ in Stanford in the Western Cape this September, as part of the Spring festivities.
Chelsea Flowers in Stanford will be open from 12 to 27 September 2026, open daily from 9:00 to 17:00, tickets give you all-day access, and kids under 12 get a free pass.
All profits from tickets go to the Grootbos Foundation, a non-profit based in Gansbaai working to conserve the Cape Floral Kingdom and support local communities through education, conservation, skills training, and sports development.
A great day out, and a good cause to boot! Find out more here.
