Scotland’s para mixed pair to meet England in gold medal match

Scotland will win their first bowls medal of this Commonwealth Games… but what colour will it be?

We’ll find out on Tuesday morning when the para mixed pair B2-B3 of Mary Stevenson and Robert Barr, and their directors Jim Aitken and Sarah Jane Ewing, take on England in the final.

Barr and Ewing collected gold in Birmingham four years ago, and have the chance to retain their title after seeing off New Zealand in Monday’s semi-final.

The sides couldn’t be separated in the first set, peeling at 5-5, and it was another tight tussle in the second, with the score 3-3 heading into the final end.

The Scots managed to scoop up a pair, though, to progress through to the final against England, who defeated Wales in their respective semi-final.

When the Auld Enemy met in the group stage, the Scots came out on top, winning in straight sets with an 8-6 8-1 score.

How they would take a repeat of that on Tuesday…
