WHITE PLAINS, Md. — A Bowie woman was summonsed after police reported an engagement ring valued at more than $3,000 was stolen from a White Plains residence and later pawned at a local business.
Nikki Nicole Cash, 27, of Bowie, was charged with theft of property valued from $1,500 to under $25,000. The charge stems from a May 31, 2026, incident in the 5100 block of Newport Circle in White Plains.
According to charging documents, a Charles County officer responded June 1 to a residence for a reported theft. The victim reported that her engagement ring was missing and told police Cash, who was identified in court documents as her sister-in-law, had been the only person other than her husband at the home over the weekend.
Charging documents state the victim last saw the ring May 30. She described it as a white gold ring with a circular diamond in the center and several smaller stones around it. The ring was approximately size 6 and was valued at $3,390, according to a receipt provided to police.
Police reported that an officer searched Leads Online and found the ring had been pawned at Famous Pawnbrokers by Cash on May 31 at approximately noon.
Court documents state officers obtained camera footage from the pawn shop and reported that the person shown in the footage matched Cash. Police also contacted the manager of Famous Pawnbrokers, who reported the ring had been stolen and placed a hold on it until officers could respond to recover it.
Investigators reported they confirmed the ring sold by Cash was the same ring reported stolen by comparing a photograph provided by the victim with a photograph provided by the pawn shop.
Cash was identified through the MVA database, charging documents state.
A criminal summons was issued June 24, 2026. A preliminary inquiry is set for Aug. 10, 2026, in Charles County District Court.
