The award, presented by sportscotland, celebrates the schools’ outstanding dedication to sport and physical education.
It was given to Bonhill, Christie Park, Gartocharn, Knoxland, Linnvale, and Clydemuir primary schools for their efforts to embed sport into school life, with Bonhill retaining its award for the second year in a row.
The awards recognise each school’s commitment to placing quality physical education and sport at the core of their planning, practice, and ethos.
Councillor Michelle McGinty, convener of educational services, said: “This is fantastic recognition for the schools and everyone involved deserves huge credit.
“As a council, we are committed to improving the life chances of our young people and having an active, healthy life from a young age is key to being healthy as an adult.
“Thanks to the commitment and the hard work of all our school staff, Active Schools, our parents and carers and external sports clubs, the pupils have benefited from a wide range of opportunities to try new sports, take part in multi-school festivals and lead sports development within the school.”
The six schools, in partnership with Active Schools coordinators, have worked to ensure every pupil has regular opportunities to get active.
During the 2025/26 school year, the schools offered a packed schedule of extra-curricular sports clubs.
Activities included cross-country, curling, dance, football, mini-movers, multi-sports, netball, and rugby.
All pupils from P1 to P7 were given the chance to take part in these clubs outside of school hours.
The clubs were supported by a dedicated group of volunteers, including staff, parents, college students, and senior secondary pupils.
Pupils also took part in wider events, including Active Schools and Sports Development festivals, intra-school competitions, and whole-school health weeks.
These events often included free taster sessions from community sports clubs.
Each school also promoted leadership through pupil sports committees and Play Leader training for Primary 7 pupils.
