IGIS Asset Management appointed Seo Seong-yong, head of the hedge fund management team, as the new head of the securities division. Based on experience managing multi-asset strategies spanning equities and alternative investments, the firm aims to strengthen its competitiveness in absolute-return funds.
IGIS Asset Management said on the 28th that it appointed Seo Seong-yong, head of the hedge fund management team, as head of the securities division. The start date is on Nov. 1.
Before this role, Seo worked in the equity management division at Mirae Asset Global Investments and at the National Pension Service fund management division, then handled multi-asset management at Koramco Asset Management. At the National Pension Service, Seo handled not only equities but also real assets, private equity funds (PEF), and venture capital (VC) investments. After joining IGIS Asset Management in 2022, Seo led the multi-asset investment team and built a fund lineup investing in equities, bonds, IPOs, mezzanine, and unlisted stocks.
As of the end of the first half of this year, the cumulative committed amount of related funds stands in the 630 billion won range. IGIS Asset Management plans to use Seo’s appointment as an opportunity to strengthen its “Multi-Strategy Absolute Return” management, which pursues absolute returns by using diverse assets and investment strategies depending on market conditions.
To that end, the firm will refine strategies that use marketable assets and nonmarketable assets, and expand marketing staff to broaden sales to institutional investors, general corporations, and family offices. The bond investment team will continue to provide investment solutions using domestic and overseas bond-type assets.
Seo said, “We will enhance the competitiveness of the securities division with a multi-strategy approach that spans marketable assets and private deals,” adding, “By managing volatility and pursuing absolute returns, we will establish ourselves as an asset manager trusted by institutional clients.”
