The Minister for Justice, Trade and Industry,has been in Mexico City, where he spoke at a conference focused on stablecoins and digital assets as part of a series of overseas engagements aimed at promoting Gibraltar’s finance and technology sectors.
During the visit, Nigel Feetham also attended a sitting of the Mexican Senate and met a number of senators, including the chamber’s president.
Speaking at the conference, Mr Feetham outlined work under way on new legislation and discussed developments in areas such as prediction markets. He said international cooperation is becoming increasingly important as governments and regulators around the world look at how to oversee digital assets.
The Government says maintaining links with policymakers and industry figures overseas is key to ensuring Gibraltar remains involved in shaping future standards in the sector.
