We’re seeing a lot of high-end G-Shocks leaking this season. To add another stick onto the pile, a new MR-G has been revealed — this one may be made of platinum. Great G-Shock World says it has confirmed a new MR-G CasiOak, the MRG-B2100HR-1A, through an overseas forum and tips from its own followers. It thinks the watch is one of Casio’s MR-G 30th anniversary models, and that it will be a special limited-edition.
The watch is grey all over in the leaked image. The finish looks a little unusual. Great G-Shock World says the band, the top of the bezel and the dial all have a special surface treatment, and that platinum is probably the material behind it. It also says the pattern that treatment leaves comes out differently on each individual watch. Every owner will get a slightly different watch.
The dial is the other big point. Great G-Shock World says it takes inspiration from kigumi, the Japanese joinery technique. The lattice sits above the solar panel so light passes through the gaps to charge it. That idea isn’t new to the line, though. Casio already uses a kigumi-inspired dial on the MRG-B2100D-2A, which it sells now.
As for the rest, Great G-Shock World expects the usual MR-G features. That means a radio-controlled Tough Solar movement with Bluetooth, 200 m water resistance, a full auto calendar and an LED light. The base model, the MRG-B2100D-1AJR, sells for ¥572,000 in Japan, which is about $3,630.
There’s a second watch in the report as well. Great G-Shock World says a gold MR-G CasiOak is also planned, and that it will pair with the MRG-B2100HR-1A as another special limited model. It says the price has been confirmed as very high, but that nothing more is known yet.
Casio hasn’t announced either watch.
