An out-of-home ad titled, “Steph Curry Shoots the Moon” won the Platinum
Obie award last night at the 84th Annual Obie Awards ceremony held in New York City.
The billboard was created by agency Known and Penguin Random House in advance of the November 2025
debut of the NBA star’s memoir, “Shot Ready.” The billboard, placed in Los Angeles, showed a black-and-white image of Curry mid-jump shot, just after releasing the ball.

The
placement was timed using astronomical calculations so that November’s supermoon would rise directly over Curry’s fingertips, making it look like the ball he was shooting was the moon
itself. The stunt garnered hundreds of millions of social media views worldwide.
The Obie awards are bestowed by the Out of Home Advertising Association. Last night’s event, held at the
Museum Of Modern Art, was hosted by industry creative luminary Susan Credle and creative consultant David Shing.
In addition to the main awards and student awards, Paramount was inducted
into the Obie Hall Of Fame in recognition of its longstanding commitment to creativity. Previous inductees include Netflix, McDonald’s, Apple, Gap, Dunkin’, The Walt Disney Company, American Express
and more.
