QHMG/Quartz Hill Records’ three-time Grammy-nominated neo-traditionalist Joe Nichols was surprised with a plaque celebrating the RIAA-certified triple-platinum sales status of No. 1 smash “Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off” at his show at Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth over the Labor Day Weekend. The song, which has now surpassed three million in certified sales, rose to No. 1 on both the Billboard Country Airplay Chart and the Radio & Records (R&R) Country National Airplay Chart. Co-written by Gary Hannan and John Wiggins, the song was also a Top 40 hit on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 Chart.
Nichols, whose catalogue recently surpassed three billion streams, continues to climb the country radio charts with the release of his latest single “Say La V,” which was the No. 1 Most Added Song at U.S. country radio out of the box, earning Nichols the biggest radio impact date of his career.
Debuting on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart last week and rising to No. 57 this week, “Say La V” was penned by hitmaker Jason Sellers (the co-writer of Nichols’ multi-week No. 1 hit “Sunny and 75”) alongside Brett Warren (Toby Keith’s triple-platinum “Red Solo Cup”) and Lance Miller (Tim McGraw’s “I Called Mama”).
