Tyler Shaw is kicking off a new chapter with a song built around uncertainty. “Run To You” is out now, the first preview of his forthcoming fifth studio album, co-written with Patrick Thomas and produced and directed by Shaw himself.
The track digs into what it feels like when a relationship sits on shaky ground. “It’s a story about the uncertainty that often lives within a relationship,” Shaw says, “contemplating whether or not there’s full commitment on either side, but at the same time, there’s the willingness to run to that person if they say they’re all in.” He’s described the song’s emotional arc as someone “leaving out the front door, but turning around before closing it to see if someone is going to stop them,” a hopefulness that carries directly into the lyrics: “We may be bruised, but we’re not broken / There’s still a fire, so we’re not hopeless / Just say the word and I’ll run to you.”
Shaw supported the single with the “Run To You” tour this spring, his first extended European run, alongside stops in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver marking the 10th anniversary of his debut album and previewing new material from the upcoming project.
Shaw has built one of Canada’s most consistent pop careers over the past decade. The Chinese-Canadian artist, originally from Vancouver, broke through with “Kiss Goodnight” in 2012, which quickly went Platinum. A JUNO Award nomination for Breakthrough Artist of the Year followed in 2014, and Shaw released his debut album, ‘Yesterday,’ in 2015. He picked up another JUNO nomination for Pop Album of the Year in 2019, then released his third studio album alongside his first holiday record, ‘A Tyler Shaw Christmas,’ in 2021, which earned a JUNO nomination for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year.
In February 2022, Shaw released a viral rendition of GAYLE’s #1 hit “abcdefu.” “Love You Still (abcdefu Romantic Version)” has since generated over 6 billion TikTok video views, 1.2 billion views overall, more than 106 million likes, over 10 million YouTube views on user-generated content, and more than 512,000 videos built around the track, totaling over 240 million combined audio and video streams. The single went Gold in India, Singapore, and Malaysia, and Platinum in Canada and Taiwan, and picked up a TikTok JUNO Fan Choice Award nomination in 2023. In 2025, Shaw teamed with Polish producer and DJ Gromee on “Fire,” which hit #1 in Poland, and performed on Polish television’s Magical End of the Summer show on Polsat.
With 10 top-10 charting singles and credits spanning film, television, and production, Tyler Shaw remains one of Canada’s most enduring pop artists, having opened for Shawn Mendes and Alessia Cara, toured with Selena Gomez, and shared festival stages with Noah Kahan, Myles Smith, and Alex Warren.
