Roko Construction scoops regional platinum quality excellence award

Roko Construction Limited has won the prestigious Platinum Award for Quality Excellence at the East African Brand Quality Awards 2025/26, marking another milestone in its long-standing contribution to Uganda’s construction and engineering sector.

The regional accolade recognizes the firm’s exceptional performance in delivering high-quality workmanship, engineering innovation, and sustainable construction practices across major infrastructure projects.

The awards ceremony took place at Hotel Africana in Kampala on October 16, under the theme, “Global Visionaries of Quality: Pioneering Sustainable Innovations, Advancing Technology and Value Addition.” Organised jointly by Consumer Choice Awards Africa, Investors Hub, and iNet, the event celebrated leading brands across nine countries in East and Southern Africa. More than 250 winners were selected from an initial pool of 370 nominees spanning 230 categories.

According to the event organizers, nominated brands were evaluated on strict criteria encompassing build quality, service reliability, and consumer trust, with technical support in the selection process provided by the UK-based Chartered Quality Institute.

Commenting on the achievement, Roko Construction Limited Chairman Mr. Mark Koehler attributed the victory to the unwavering dedication of the firm’s staff and its commitment to industry standards.

“This recognition is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of our workforce and our continued commitment to delivering high-quality construction projects,” Mr. Koehler said.

He noted that the company has actively driven Uganda’s development for over five decades by leveraging deep engineering expertise, skilled craftsmanship, and dependable project execution.

“Our success over the years rests on the trust of our clients and the hard work of our team. We remain deeply committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and innovation in every project we undertake,” Mr. Koehler added, while extending appreciation to the company’s workforce of over 1,850 employees, partners, and key industry stakeholders.

The regional award reinforces Roko’s established track record as a premier builder of public and commercial infrastructure in Uganda.

Speaking recently at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Uganda Bureau of Statistics Entebbe office block, the Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Henry Musasizi, commended the firm’s technical capability and historical reliability.

“Roko has consistently proven to be Uganda’s leading local construction company,” Minister Musasizi stated. “Their extensive experience in executing complex projects makes them a trusted partner in meeting the nation’s growing infrastructure demands.”

The company recently handed over the newly completed headquarters of the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development in Kampala. Its extensive portfolio of iconic national landmarks includes the Uganda Martyrs Shrine at Namugongo, the Bank of Uganda headquarters, Workers House, Crested Towers, Village Mall in Bugolobi, Acacia Mall, Mestil Hotel, and Mapeera House.

Founded in Uganda in 1969 by the late Max Rohrer and Rainer Kohler, Roko Construction Limited has grown from a local contractor into one of the region’s premier civil engineering firms. Alongside its project operations, the company continues to invest in local capacity building through specialized training programs for technicians, artisans, and construction professionals.
