Santikos Palladium reveals reopening plans after tornado

Santikos Palladium will reopen Thursday, July 16, after sustaining exterior damage during Wednesday morning’s severe weather. The quick turnaround comes just in time for “The Odyssey,” one of the summer’s most anticipated movies.

Additional exterior repairs will continue over the next several days, and visitors will see a temporary fence around the entrance, the post said.

The Palladium temporarily closed Wednesday as Santikos assessed damage caused by a tornado that moved through popular The Rim shopping center.

The National Weather Service confirmed that the tornado touched down near the Interstate 10 and Loop 1604 interchange shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday. The areas affected by the tornado included Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

The storm damaged businesses, trees and apartment complexes along its path. Residents at the Oasis San Antonio apartments and The Tribute at The Rim reported damage to buildings and vehicles. Debris also landed along portions of Interstate 10, contributing to traffic headaches during the morning commute.

No injuries were reported in connection with the tornado as of Wednesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service had not yet released a rating or estimated wind speeds for the storm.
