After a tornado was confirmed to touch down on San Antonio’s Northwest Side on July 15, popular destinations on that side of town are closing their doors. Additionally, debris is reportedly scattered across the lanes of a major highway in the area. Here’s where.
A spokesperson for the park told MySA that Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Hurricane Harbor are closed out of an abundance of caution for its guests and staff and because the weather interrupted the park’s power supply. However, the closure is not due to storm damage, as the park didn’t receive any structural damage, the spokesperson said. All team members are reported safe. The park is not far from the path that the local National Weather Service office told MySA that the tornado took. According to the NWS, it had touched down near the Dominion, moving north towards Leon Springs and weakening as it approached Fair Oaks Ranch.
Six Flags Fiesta Texas will honor tickets dated for today on any operating day in the 2026 season, the spokesperson said.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday morning, Santikos Palladium said the theater would be closed for the day. “We are assessing the damage and will provide updates on our social media. Thank you for your understanding,” the post reads. The Palladium is located in The Rim shopping center, where locals reported lots of damage in social media posts.
According to the City of San Antonio on social media, the San Antonio Fire Department is on the scene at 6023 UTSA Boulevard, the address for Oasis Apartments, as well as addressing multiple properties at The Rim for damage. No injuries have been reported.
“Residents are asked to avoid the areas, if possible, to allow first responders to safely conduct assessments,” the post said. “Northwest Bexar County remains under a Flash Flood Warning. Please use caution, avoid driving through flooded roadways, and continue to monitor local weather conditions.
