Kiwi skiing star Nico Porteous has secured a silver medal in the Superpipe at the X-Games in Aspen this afternoon.
The 22-year-old left it late, sitting in fifth with only one of his three runs remaining.
But he nailed the final run for a score of 92.66 to vault into the silver medal position, which held for the remainder of the competition.
American Alex Ferreira won gold with a stunning 95.33 in his final run.
It’s a momentous achievement for Porteous in his first X-Games competition since surgery to repair an injured ACL, as well as his first since a major coaching change.
