Kevin Simpson of Capital Wealth Planning expressed doubts about Bitcoin‘s (CRYPTO: BTC) longevity in an October 2026 television interview, saying it might not exist in 10 years while noting that platforms like Robinhood (NASDAQ: HOOD) will likely still be operational. By contrast, Brian Kelly, appearing on CNBC’s Fast Money, took a more optimistic view, saying he is more bullish on Bitcoin than he has been in the last two years.
As of October 9, Bitcoin trades at $83,247, down 3.6% over the past week and about 34% from its record high of $126,080. Nevertheless, the digital currency still holds a substantial market value of about $1.67 trillion. So, what potential threats could lead to Bitcoin’s downfall in the next decade, and how likely are they?
Two Wall Street Veterans Split on Bitcoin’s Next 10 Years
Simpson sums up his concern bluntly: “We could be 10 years into the future where Bitcoin doesn’t exist. Robinhood will.” He suggests that companies built around cryptocurrency trading could outlast Bitcoin itself.
On the other hand, Kelly envisions a future where Bitcoin plays a crucial role in automated transactions. He emphasizes, “I’m more bullish on Bitcoin than I’ve been in two years. Agentic payments are going to run on crypto rails.” Agentic payments refer to purchases made by AI software agents, such as payments for data or computing resources, utilizing blockchain technology for seamless transfers.
