Ledger Rolls Out Morpho-Powered Stablecoin Loans Against Wrapped Bitcoin

  • Ledger said on Wednesday it is rolling out Crypto Loan in Ledger Wallet, which lets users take a stablecoin loan against wrapped Bitcoin inside the app.

  • Crypto Loan is powered by lending protocol Morpho and integrated by Yield.xyz, and accepts WBTC or cbBTC as collateral to borrow USDC or USDT, according to Ledger.

  • Rates are variable and liquidation risks apply, and the feature is subject to country availability, according to Ledger.

Ledger is rolling out a feature that lets Ledger Wallet users borrow stablecoins against wrapped Bitcoin without selling their Bitcoin (BTC) holdings, using lending protocol Morpho (MORPHO).
“Real life needs cash. But what if you don’t want to sell your BTC? Crypto Loan is rolling out now via Ledger Wallet,” the hardware wallet maker wrote on X on Wednesday.

Crypto Loan is powered by Morpho and integrated via Yield.xyz, Ledger said.

Users can deposit wrapped Bitcoin, either cbBTC or Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC), as collateral to borrow USDC or USDT, keeping their Bitcoin exposure for the life of the loan, according to Ledger Wallet release notes published Oct. 7, which first described the feature.
The app includes loan-to-value monitoring and lets users add collateral, repay, borrow more or withdraw at any stage, and simulate a loan before committing, the company said. Ledger said Clear Signing covers the whole loan lifecycle and that keys stay offline in the Secure Element.

Ledger said Morpho’s smart contracts “govern every interaction” and that collateral “stays on-chain rather than sitting on someone else’s balance sheet.”

Interest rates are variable and set by the utilization of the underlying isolated lending markets, and liquidation risks apply, according to Ledger. The feature is subject to country availability, and “lending and borrowing involve risk, including loss of principal,” Ledger said.
The rollout comes as Bitcoin holders borrow a record $1.6 billion on Morpho without selling, and two weeks after Lido unveiled a lending market built on a Morpho Blue fork.

BTC traded around $84,600 at the time of writing, up about 2.4% over 24 hours, according to CMC data.
