Gordon Brothers Adds Tron Allen as Senior Managing Director in Texas

Gordon Brothers has appointed Tron Allen as senior managing director, adding an experienced corporate finance and asset-based lending executive to expand relationships with private equity firms, banks and investment bankers across North America.

Based in Texas, Allen will lead business development efforts across the Boston-based firm’s platform, connecting clients with its appraisal, disposition, investment and advisory capabilities. His appointment also expands Gordon Brothers’ presence in Texas as the firm targets growth across key industries and financial markets.

Allen joins Gordon Brothers from Eclipse Business Capital, where he served as chief commercial officer and led business development for the asset-based lending platform. His background also includes corporate finance positions at Deloitte, BKD Corporate Finance and GE Capital.

At Gordon Brothers, Allen’s role will span multiple service areas rather than a single financing or advisory product. He will work with teams across the organization to identify client needs and assemble solutions involving asset valuations, capital, dispositions and other advisory services.

That cross-platform approach is particularly relevant when companies, lenders and financial sponsors are managing transactions or operating situations involving asset-intensive businesses. Financing decisions, restructurings, acquisitions and liquidity events can require an understanding of both the value of underlying assets and the options available to monetize or finance them.

“Throughout his career, he has built trusted partnerships by helping clients navigate complex situations and identify opportunities for growth,” said Kyle Shonak, Gordon Brothers’ chief transaction officer for North America. Shonak said Allen’s commercial experience will help the firm bring a broader range of its capabilities to clients.

Before joining Eclipse, Allen spent nearly five years collectively as a senior vice president at Deloitte’s corporate finance division and BKD Corporate Finance. Those positions followed more than a decade at GE Capital, where he held corporate finance leadership roles and worked with companies across multiple industries.

The combination gives Allen experience across lending, corporate finance and business development, along with relationships among intermediaries, financial institutions and companies that can generate opportunities across Gordon Brothers’ platform.

His appointment also reflects the importance of relationship-driven origination for firms operating across asset advisory and specialty finance. Private equity sponsors and lenders frequently encounter portfolio companies or borrowers requiring valuation work, incremental liquidity, asset sales or other transaction support. A senior business development executive who can identify those requirements across the client lifecycle can create opportunities for several parts of the firm simultaneously.

Allen said Gordon Brothers’ range of services was one of the factors behind his decision to join the company.

“The firm’s breadth of expertise, entrepreneurial culture and commitment to serving clients across every stage of the business lifecycle creates a unique platform in the marketplace,” Allen said. He will focus on expanding relationships and increasing the firm’s reach in markets where it sees additional opportunities.

Texas provides Gordon Brothers with a base in a large and diverse corporate market encompassing energy, industrial businesses, retail, real estate and other asset-intensive sectors. Allen’s presence there strengthens the firm’s ability to develop relationships locally while working with clients and transaction teams throughout North America.

Founded in 1903, Gordon Brothers provides asset advisory services, lending and financing, and trading solutions. Its sector expertise includes brands, industrial assets, retail and real estate.

The firm works with companies and financial stakeholders across different stages of the business lifecycle, including situations involving growth capital, liquidity requirements and asset monetization. Gordon Brothers is headquartered in Boston and operates more than 30 offices across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.

Adding Allen strengthens the commercial layer connecting those capabilities. His experience across GE Capital, corporate finance advisory and asset-based lending gives Gordon Brothers another senior executive focused on developing sponsor, lender and intermediary relationships while generating opportunities across its integrated platform.
