‘NJBIZ’ names Rider alumnus as a leader in finance

Chris Dumont ’96, a private bank market executive at Bank of America, received a NJBIZ Leaders in Finance award

Chris Dumont ’96, a private bank market executive at Bank of America who earned a Master of Business Administration from Rider University, was honored with an NJBIZ Leaders in Finance award in March. The awards celebrate financial executives in New Jersey who contribute to the success of their companies and communities.

This year’s award program, which began with an open nomination period, was open to candidates in the categories of banking, corporate, investment, professional and blockchain. Honorees were then chosen by a panel of independent judges with experience in the financial field. The selections were based on the nominees’ professional achievements and their involvement in their industries and communities.

“I’m humbled but also proud to receive this recognition from my peers,” says Dumont. “I view myself as part of a leadership team that exists across the state of New Jersey, and as a team, we do a lot of great work together.”

Dumont has spent nearly his entire career with Bank of America, beginning in a retail role in the traditional banking center before moving into brokerage. Since 2006, he has worked for Bank of America Private Bank, serving wealthy individuals, families and institutions with a personalized approach.

“The part I enjoy most about my job is helping people achieve the goals they set forth,” he says. “From the people who report up through me to our clients, I find satisfaction in helping them get from Point A to Point B.”

At Bank of America, Dumont is a member of the New Jersey Hispanic Latino Business Council. He also serves as the co-head of the Private Bank Diversity & Inclusion Council’s Black Professional Group. “These are areas that I’m passionate about that provide tremendous opportunities to learn from,” he says. “I’ve personally grown from my experience participating in our great employee organizations, and I’m lucky to help others in the organization do the same.”

Outside of work, Dumont serves on the board of the Bobby Campbell Lacrosse Foundation, which raises funds for underprivileged students to participate in lacrosse. The foundation is named in honor of Dumont’s high school lacrosse coach. “He was someone who embodied leadership, and I looked up to him,” Dumont says. “My playing days have come to an end, but it’s still fun to be part of an organization that means a lot to me.”

A native of Princeton, Dumont lives in Pennington, New Jersey, with his family. He earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the College of Wooster before enrolling in Rider’s Master of Business Administration program.

“I found the on-campus experience at Rider to be very beneficial,” he says. “The skills I learned through that environment — curiosity, collaboration and communication — have helped me throughout my career.”

A leading business journal in New Jersey, NJBIZ provides business news coverage through its website and a weekly print edition, as well as events that honor top business professionals. A ceremony recognizing this year’s award recipients was held on April 18 in Somerset, New Jersey.
