SEDA Experts Adds Marco Schwartz as Capital Markets Managing Director

SEDA Experts LLC has appointed investment banking veteran Marco Schwartz as managing director, expanding the New York-based expert witness firm’s capabilities across equity capital markets, corporate finance and debt and equity financing.

Schwartz brings more than 25 years of investment banking and capital markets experience, including senior positions at Deutsche Bank, Barclays Capital and KPMG. His career has covered transactions and advisory work across the UK, Europe and Asia.

At SEDA Experts, his background will strengthen the firm’s capital markets expertise for law firms, regulators and financial institutions requiring independent analysis, expert reports and testimony in financial disputes and other proceedings.

“Marco’s global experience in equity and debt capital markets will add tremendous value to SEDA’s current offering in the capital markets space,” Managing Partner Sergio Godinho said.

Schwartz currently serves as a managing director at Balnageith, advising companies on capital structure, private equity and debt fundraising, debt restructuring and equity positioning.

His recent work has included debt and equity capital raises involving renewable infrastructure, hospitality, solar development, healthcare and other growth sectors.

Before Balnageith, Schwartz served as managing director and head of Davy UK, where he established and led the firm’s UK investment banking operation.

He built a team of approximately 25 to 30 professionals spanning corporate broking, equity capital markets, private capital and debt advisory. He also contributed to the development of the firm’s sales and research capabilities, strategy and product offering.

His assignments at Davy included corporate advisory work, IPO preparation, private equity transactions, asset sales and public-to-private mandates.

Schwartz previously served as managing director and head of UK ECM Advisory at KPMG UK. There, he developed an advisory business focused on private and public equity and debt markets, working with companies on IPO preparation, dual-track processes, financing and broader capital markets strategy.

Earlier, Schwartz held several senior positions at Barclays Capital. His roles included head of Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa and Nordic equity capital markets, co-head of equity capital markets in Asia, and head of financial institutions group equity capital markets.

Working from London and Hong Kong, he helped develop Barclays’ equity capital markets capabilities in Asia while originating and executing transactions across European and emerging markets.

Before Barclays, Schwartz spent five years at Deutsche Bank, ultimately serving as head of financial institutions group and UK equity capital markets. He also led the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa syndicate business, where he helped originate and execute more than 35 transactions annually.

Schwartz began his investment banking career at James Capel/HSBC, initially working as an equity analyst before moving to the equity capital markets syndicate desk.

Across those roles, he has advised executives and boards on financing and capital markets decisions involving IPOs, equity issuance, debt financing, restructuring and capital structure strategy.

That transaction experience is directly applicable to SEDA Experts’ work in financial services disputes, where matters can require detailed analysis of market practices, transaction structures, financing processes and the responsibilities of financial institutions and their advisors.

Schwartz holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in law from Oxford University and also studied law at Madrid University. He is a native Spanish speaker.

SEDA Experts provides financial expert witness and consulting services to international law firms, regulators and financial institutions. Its work includes independent financial analysis, data analytics, valuation, expert reports and testimony.

The addition of Schwartz broadens that platform with an executive whose experience spans both advisory and execution roles across global equity and debt markets, giving SEDA additional expertise for matters involving investment banking transactions, capital raising and corporate finance.
