Treasury Email System Outdated Since 2019, COPF Reveals

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Committee on Public Finance (COPF) has revealed that the Treasury’s email system had been outdated since 2019.

The disclosure was made during COPF’s inquiry into the cyber theft of USD 2.5 million from the Treasury, as officials were questioned over the incident.

The committee had convened on several occasions in recent months to examine the matter.

However, details from discussions were not released to the media, as they involved highly sensitive information relating to the country’s public finances.

COPF Chairman Dr. Harsha de Silva presented the committee’s final investigation report to Parliament yesterday.
