Assembly Group, an Austin, Texas-based executive search firm specializing in private equity-backed software and technology companies, has appointed Sam Boynton to expand its growth equity practice.
Based in Boston, Boynton will work with growth equity investors, founders and portfolio company executives to recruit senior leadership teams, with an emphasis on executives capable of implementing artificial intelligence strategies and supporting business expansion.
The appointment strengthens Assembly Group’s presence in the growth equity market as technology companies seek experienced executives to manage rapid growth, operational transformation and AI adoption.
Boynton brings more than a decade of executive search experience focused on high-growth software and technology businesses. His recruiting expertise includes CEO appointments and senior leadership roles across sales, marketing, product development, technology and finance.
He previously founded Lumeidon Partners, a boutique executive search firm acquired by 33eleven in 2022. Following the acquisition, Boynton joined 33eleven as a Partner.
At 33eleven, he worked with growth equity-backed software companies and completed executive searches for businesses supported by investors including M33 Growth, Lead Edge Capital, Susquehanna Growth Equity, Frontier Growth and Level Equity.
“Demand from our growth equity clients keeps building, especially now. In the age of AI, companies are scaling quickly and need top-tier leaders to take them to the next level,” said Carissa Clark, CEO and Founding Partner of Assembly Group.
Clark said Boynton’s experience recruiting executives for growth-stage technology companies and his relationships with investors and founders will support the firm’s continued expansion.
Assembly Group has spent approximately a decade recruiting C-suite executives for private equity-backed software and technology companies.
Its clients include portfolio companies associated with major investment firms such as TA Associates, Hg, PSG and Insight Partners.
The firm is expanding its focus on growth equity-backed businesses, where companies often require executive leadership capable of scaling operations, entering new markets and integrating emerging technologies.
Artificial intelligence has become an increasingly important consideration in executive recruitment as software companies evaluate how AI can influence product development, business operations and competitive positioning.
Boynton will work with investors and portfolio company leadership teams to identify executives who can translate those opportunities into business strategies.
“I’ve spent the majority of my career focused on growth equity software, and I see a tremendous opportunity to build on the market-leading platform Assembly has established,” Boynton said.
“Assembly’s reputation, approach to executive search, and deep relationships across the investor ecosystem create a strong foundation for continued growth.”
Assembly Group operates a senior-led executive search model focused on recruiting leadership teams for private equity and growth equity-backed technology businesses.
Boynton’s addition expands the firm’s recruiting capabilities for growth-stage companies while strengthening its relationships across the software investment community.
