FBT Gibbons private equity group adds Moore to Newark office

FBT Gibbons continues to strengthen its Private Equity & Venture practice group with the addition of Herb “JR” Moore as partner in its Newark office, adding further depth in fund formation, venture capital and emerging company representation.

The Private Equity & Venture team represents private equity and venture capital investors across all aspects of their investment cycle, from negotiating partnership agreements and structuring funds to undertaking platform acquisitions, restructurings and exit transactions. They also provide comprehensive legal and advisory services to portfolio companies, startups, entrepreneurs and businesses seeking financial investors and buyers.

Moore brings experience advising venture capital and private equity fund sponsors on fund formation, fund operations, and portfolio investment transactions, as well as representing startups and growth‑stage companies throughout their corporate lifecycles. He also served as in-house counsel at an active seed and early-stage venture capital firm in New York, which gives him a practical, business-oriented perspective on client needs.

Moore’s practice spans the lifecycle of private investment funds, including structuring, marketing and governance, and he counsels founders and investors on venture financings from pre‑seed and seed rounds through later‑stage investments and exits across technology, data, life sciences, blockchain and other emerging sectors.

“JR brings sophisticated fund formation experience and a practical understanding of how sponsors, investors, and founders operate throughout the investment lifecycle,” said Edward W. Moore, Jr., leader of the firm’s Private Equity & Venture practice group. “He broadens our ability to structure, launch, and support private investment funds, while strengthening the depth of experience we bring to portfolio investments and venture transactions across our platform.”

In addition, Moore represents startups and growth‑stage companies and counsels investors in venture capital financings, from pre‑seed and seed rounds through later‑stage investments and exits. His experience spans technology, data, artificial intelligence, life sciences, blockchain, and other emerging sectors.

“Much of my practice is focused on working alongside founders and emerging managers as they build companies and investment programs from the ground up,” JR Moore said. “FBT Gibbons offers a collaborative environment with strong private equity and venture capabilities that align naturally with that work. The firm’s depth across corporate, regulatory, and transactional disciplines allows me to support clients seamlessly as they grow, raise capital, and execute complex transactions.”
