Santander Corporate & Investment Banking announced that it has advised the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on the structuring and placement of “Mosaic”, the institution’s inaugural Significant Risk Transfer (SRT) transaction.
The €1 billion transaction, structured as a synthetic securitisation, transfers credit risk on a diversified portfolio of private-sector loans across the EBRD’s regions of operation.
The landmark deal establishes a scalable framework to share risk with private investors and insurers, helping optimise the EBRD’s balance-sheet capacity to support additional development lending initiatives.
Santander Corporate & Investment Banking highlighted the strategic importance of this innovative transaction, which strengthens collaboration between multilateral institutions and private capital markets.
“Mosaic” also represents a significant step forward in the evolution of risk and capital management solutions within development finance, reinforcing the growing role of SRT structures in mobilising private capital toward emerging economies
