Dusit Hotels and Resorts is bringing its locally focused ASAI Hotels brand to Malaysia with the opening of ASAI Gamuda Cove on September 15, 2026.
The 13-story, 280-room hotel is part of the 620-ha Gamuda Cove township, about 20 minutes by car from Kuala Lumpur International Airport. It will be Dusit International’s second Malaysian property after Dusit Princess Melaka and the first ASAI hotel located outside a city neighborhood.
The opening expands the ASAI portfolio to four operating hotels, joining properties in Bangkok and Kyoto.
ASAI Gamuda Cove is designed around the brand’s “Live Local” philosophy, putting guests close to the natural and recreational attractions of Selangor.
Nature, recreation and Formula 1
The hotel sits beside the 450-ha Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands, a nature reserve and wildlife sanctuary where visitors can explore freshwater habitats and observe native wildlife. The nearby 36-ha Wetlands Arboretum adds walking trails, birdwatching and environmental activities.
Families can also reach SplashMania Waterpark, with 39 slides and attractions, while Discovery Park offers outdoor recreation and entertainment. An electric tram network connects key destinations around the township, reducing the need for private vehicles.
The location could prove particularly timely for the hotel’s launch. Sepang International Circuit is about 20 minutes away, and Formula 1 is set to return to Malaysia for the first time since 2017 from October 2-4, 2026.
The hotel’s rooms are designed to maximize flexibility and value, ranging from compact accommodations for solo travelers and couples to balcony rooms, bunk-bed configurations and a two-room family option that can sleep up to six people.
All rooms include fast Wi-Fi, smart TVs, walk-in showers and practical storage, with selected accommodations offering views of the wetlands.
Facilities include an infinity pool overlooking the wetlands, a gym, co-working areas and flexible meeting and event space for up to 100 people.
Three dining venues complete the offering. Nasi & Khao combines Malaysian and Thai comfort food with international favorites, while Tea Shop serves teas and light bites throughout the day. Pool Bar offers cocktails, refreshments and snacks alongside the infinity pool.
“ASAI Gamuda Cove shows how our Live Local approach can work in a setting where nature, recreation and a growing community come together,” said Chanin Donavanik, Group CEO of Dusit International.
The ASAI concept targets travelers seeking well-designed essentials, accessible rates and a stronger connection with local communities, combining efficient rooms with social, dining and co-working spaces shaped by each destination.
