Survey critical Offshore Energy Infrastructure

Timor Leste

Fugro has signed a contract for the Greater Sunrise and Bayu Undan pipeline survey programme in Timor-Leste.

This programme will support the planning and development of the critical offshore energy infrastructure associated with these two strategically important projects, which are fundamental to Timor-Leste’s future energy ambitions.

As part of the contract, Fugro will conduct an extensive offshore site characterisation programme, comprising geophysical, seismic, and autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) surveys, in challenging offshore conditions. The survey area includes deep-water areas with depths exceeding 3,000 metres.

This programme will provide comprehensive seabed intelligence and geotechnical insights to support pipeline routing, engineering design, geohazard assessment, and the safe execution of offshore operations.

Fugro will integrate advanced AUV technology with real-time support from its Remote Operations Centres to enhance operational efficiency, data quality, and project oversight.

Survey data will be processed and quality-controlled through Fugro’s regional data centres in Kuala Lumpur and Perth. This will enable streamlined project delivery and the timely provision of high-quality insights to support informed decision-making throughout the development process.

Project mobilisation and planning activities are expected to commence in Q3 2026, with offshore survey operations scheduled to begin in Q4.

The offshore campaign is expected to last approximately three months and will encompass geophysical, seismic, AUV and environmental surveys across both development areas.
