USACE Jacksonville District has released a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for public review and comment regarding the City of Bunnell Comprehensive Wastewater Treatment Infrastructure Modernization Project in Flagler County, Florida.
The environmental analysis, conducted in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as amended, addresses the provision of design and construction assistance for a publicly owned, non-federal water-related environmental infrastructure project in Northeast Florida.
The EA evaluates various alternatives that would provide wastewater treatment facility improvements in the study area. The preferred alternative is Alternative 2, which includes:
USACE providing design and construction assistance (75 percent of the federal share of project costs) for the following improvements, subject to the availability of federal funding:
- Two secondary clarifiers
- Two disc filters and an adjacent chlorine contact chamber and dechlorination basin
- An MGD rated basin containing two separate treatment trains with identical processes
- Three pumps
- The conversion of the existing oxidation ditch to a facultative digester
- A dewatering building
- A hardened electrical building
- A pump station, and
- An operations building
USACE encourages public review and comment on the Draft EA for consideration by the project team. To access the Draft EA, go to https://usace.contentdm.oclc.org/utils/getfile/collection/p16021coll7/id/25244.
