4 directors of real estate firm booked for duping businessman of Rs 12 cr | Mumbai News


According to police, Yusuf Saidi, 52, the complainant in the case, told police that in 2015, he got to know the accused directors of Shanklesha Constructions — Manish Mutha, 40, Vijay Sharma, 35, Sharat Chhanjed, 42 and Bhushan Jain, 39.

Officials of Mumbai Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW) have booked four directors of a real estate company for allegedly duping a Mazgaon-based garment importer of Rs 12 crore in the name of selling flats in a housing project in Shahad, Kalyan.

According to police, Yusuf Saidi, 52, the complainant in the case, told police that in 2015, he got to know the accused directors of Shanklesha Constructions — Manish Mutha, 40, Vijay Sharma, 35, Sharat Chhanjed, 42 and Bhushan Jain, 39.

The four allegedly accepted Rs 15 crore from Saidi and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), in which it was mentioned that against the funding, he would get 44 flats. However, the accused breached trust and handed over only 10 flats worth Rs 2.96 crore. They allegedly sold off the rest of 34 flats to other home buyers and caused him a loss of Rs 12.03 crore, stated the FIR.

Saidi then approached police. A case was registered under sections 420, 406 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code by Byculla police on Tuesday. Later, the EOW took over the investigation.
