Michael Leibowitz is joining Larken Associates as leasing manager for its residential properties.

According to a news release, Leibowitz will oversee Branchburg-based Larken’s roughly 3,000-unit portfolio across 20 residential communities, working with Jessica Heckman, executive vice president of multifamily operations, and Larken Associates’ regional property managers. He is expected to streamline procedures and make improvements in several areas: asset performance, overall resident experience, the leasing process, CRM systems and training and team building for leasing staff.

He will also look to help the firm better expend its resources across its Class A and Class B communities.

“We’re excited to draw on Mike’s extensive expertise in leasing Class A multifamily communities as we continue to grow our residential portfolio,” Heckman said in the release. “With his experience executing lease-ups in such a competitive market, Mike will be a tremendous asset as we work to bring greater consistency and versatility to our leasing efforts.”

Leibowitz previously served as leasing manager at Piscataway-based Edgewood Properties, where he led lease-ups of multiple new luxury multifamily communities in New Jersey, according to the release. Before that, he held residential leasing roles at Greystar Real Estate Partners, a global real estate company specializing in rental housing, and Equity Residential, a real estate investment trust headquartered in Chicago.

He holds a bachelor’s from Montclair State University and a master’s from Nova Southeastern University.

“I was drawn to Larken for its people-first culture and the team’s shared commitment to quality and thoughtful building design,” Leibowitz said. “As I begin this next chapter, I’m excited to bring my experience to markets where I haven’t previously had the opportunity to work.”
