Hugh Jackman & Ryan Reynolds Reunite For Docuseries About Australian Sailing Team

Australian star Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds are teaming up again – this time for a new docuseries about the local sailing team, Bonds Flying Roos, which the actors co-own.

The show – which will follow the Flying Roos through the SailGP Championship – is yet to have a release date; however, it will stream exclusively on Disney+ internationally and will be produced by Reynolds’ Maximum Effort banner alongside Eureka Productions, in partnership with SailGP and the Flying Roos team.

“This is our first collaboration since Deadpool & Wolverine and we once again anticipate action, comedy, heart but with a lot more water,” the pair said in a joint statement.

“And (fingers crossed) pirates. We hope there’s pirates in SailGP.”

SailGP is the Rolex-backed global championship where national teams race identical high-tech, high-speed 50-foot foiling catamarans at close-to-shore venues around the world, hitting speeds of up to 100 km/h. The Australian team — currently sitting in the thick of the 2026 season — is led on the water by driver and CEO Tom Slingsby, an Olympic gold medallist, America’s Cup winner, and three-time SailGP champion widely regarded as one of the most decorated sailors in history.

The docuseries promises to blend the sport’s white-knuckle racing with behind-the-scenes access to life inside one of the world’s most intense sporting leagues, capturing the team’s tight-knit dynamics as they travel the globe and chase the championship.

Brent Hodge will serve as director and showrunner, while Rob Mac — Wrexham AFC co-chairman and the executive producer behind Welcome to Wrexham — will produce through his More Better Productions banner.

“Following Ryan, Hugh and the SailGP’s BONDS Flying Roos Australian team’s journey gives us a remarkable inside view of this thrilling sport and what it takes to compete at the highest level,” said Eric Schrier, President of Direct-to-Consumer International Originals, Strategic Programming and Emerging Media at Disney.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring this story to Disney+ audiences around the world.”

Jackman and Reynolds were revealed as co-owners of the Flying Roos in June 2025, and the team is currently sitting second in the 2026 SailGP standings, pushing for the top spot as the season continues.
