Silvia Furmanovich’s New Collection Travels Back to the 1920s

São Paulo, Brazil—Silvia Furmanovich has debuted a new collection focused on the spirit of experimentation seen in the Art Deco movement.

The collection, named after the movement, traces the parallels between the era and Furmanovich’s personal creative philosophy as she uses jewelry as a form of cultural exploration and an ongoing dialogue between craftsmanship, materiality, and ornament.

The namesake brand said Furmanovich was drawn to the Art Deco movement for its embrace of modernity, fascination with global cultures, and belief that craftsmanship and ornament could evolve alongside a rapidly changing world.

The movement occurred from the 1920s to the 1940s and marked a shift in artistic thinking as artists began incorporating industrial modernity into their work.

Its name came from the landmark 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris, where artists used precious and unconventional materials like lacquer, coral, mother-of-pearl, shagreen, steel, glass, and wrought iron.

For Furmanovich’s “Art Deco” collection, she embraced this dialogue between the artisanal and industrial through the materials she is known for incorporating into fine jewelry.

The about 100-piece collection features a variety of techniques and materials, including straw marquetry, Japanese Shibayama inlay, mirror, black palm wood, coral, mother-of-pearl, abalone, and iridescent beetle wings.

Mirrored surfaces are used throughout as a nod to chrome while straw marquetry, also known as enchapado de tamo, is used to bring depth and movement to the geometric patterns seen in the collection.

These geometric compositions were inspired by Art Deco’s chevron, mosaic, and spiral patterns.

Furmanovich also included references to Egyptomania, Japonisme, textiles, ceramics, and decorative arts as well as nature, which is always a source of inspiration for her.

“By combining ancestral techniques, rare materials, and contemporary perspectives, the collection becomes both a tribute to the optimism and curiosity of the [Art] Deco movement and a meditation on what luxury can represent today: artistry, cultural dialogue, innovation, and the enduring desire to transform the world through beauty,” said the brand.

The Art Deco collection retails from about $6,800 to $18,800.

It debuted at Couture and will launch on the Silvia Furmanovich website and in stores in the United States starting in September, including Bergdorf Goodman.

A trunk show is running through Aug. 7 at Moda Operandi where clients can pre-order pieces from the collection.

Furmanovich won the 2026 Gem Award for Jewelry Design.
