A new rumor claims that the original Silver Surfer will appear in The Fantastic Four. This comes not long after it was reported that Julia Garner will be playing Shalla-Bal in the project, with Shalla-Bal being described as “a version of Silver Surfer.”
Per insider Daniel Richtman, the rumor states that Norrin Radd will also be introduced in The Fantastic Four with Shalla-Bal, though no other details have been given. Prior to this, actor LaKeith Stanfield threw in his own two cents about Garner’s casting, professing on Instagram, “Thought it was going to be me but ig.”

There Are Many Rumors About The Fantastic Four
This isn’t the only Silver Surfer-centric rumor Richtman has shared, as he had previously reported that a Silver Surfer project was still in the works at Marvel Studios. An earlier report affirmed that said project would be a Special Presentation and would release before The Fantastic Four, while a later rumor professed that a Silver Surfer series was afoot at Disney+. None of these projects have been officially announced.
Putting the spotlight on The Fantastic Four itself, Johnny Storm/The Human Torch actor Joseph Quinn delved into succeeding Chris Evans and Michael B. Jordan, avowing, “I remember really enjoying Chris Evans’s performance as Johnny in the previous films, and it felt like this would be a really exciting opportunity; I was absolutely signed up.” Quinn added that he had “big boots” to fill, going on to further note, “I mean, you’re going to make it your own.”
The Fantastic Four’s Johnny Storm Was Almost Played by Rising Star Nicholas Galitzine
Nicholas Galitzine confirmed he was in talks to appear in the MCU’s upcoming The Fantastic Four.
In that same interview, Quinn also discussed how The Fantastic Four will combat superhero fatigue. “I think that with the story of the Fantastic Four, it feels like we want to get this right,” he remarked. “There are aspects of it that are very different to other Marvel films. That felt very compelling to me. And again, going back to who’s involved, Matt [Shakman], of course, the director, I think is brilliant, and the cast, and I’ve read it and the script is brilliant. It’s really brilliant. I’m delighted to have this opportunity.”
“Superhero movies are movies about people,” Quinn concluded. “And if we’re invested in the people and the characters and the peril and the spectacle, then that’s why people go to the theaters to watch films. We’re not just in a penny; we’re in for a pound with this one. We’re going to go for it.”
Additionally, Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic actor Pedro Pascal touched upon starring in the project, declaring to ET Online, “I can tell you how excited I am, which is beyond.”
The Fantastic Four is scheduled to hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
