To commemorate King Mohammed VI’s 63rd birthday, Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM) has unveiled a commemorative silver coin with a face value of 250 dirhams.
The coin’s obverse showcases the sovereign’s effigy, surrounded by the inscriptions «المملكة المغربية», «محمد السادس» and «ⵜⴰⴳⵍⴷⵉⵜ l ⵍⵎⵖⵔⵉⴱ» in both Arabic and Tifinagh, along with the year «2026 – 1448», as noted in a statement from BAM.
The reverse features an artistic ribbon with a five-pointed star, accompanied by Morocco’s coat of arms. The number «63» underscores the birthday celebration, surrounding a festive array of arabesque designs. The coin includes its face value in numerals and Arabic words «250 – مائتان و خمسون درهما», along with the inscription «الذكرى الثالثة و الستون لميلاد صاحب الجلالة محمد السادس» and its French translation: «63rd ANNIVERSARY OF H.M. KING MOHAMMED VI».
Regarding the coin’s technical details, it is composed of 925 parts per thousand silver and 75 parts per thousand copper, weighing 28.28 grams with a diameter of 38.61 millimeters.
