Through an authorised dealer, the watch costs £53,200. On the UK secondary market, however, examples can be found for roughly £36.5k. That’s a saving of £16,700 simply for buying the watch pre-owned. For a watch at this end of the market, that’s a significant difference.
And it raises an interesting question about the Rolex market more generally. The brand’s reputation for watches that sell above retail is deserved, but it isn’t universal. Sometimes, the smarter way to buy a Rolex is simply to let somebody else take the initial hit.
