Guardian Childcare and Affinity Education merger: Childcare giants in talks to create $2 billion business


Two of the country’s biggest childcare providers are in exclusive discussions to create a $2 billion business that would have the scale to escape a malaise in the sector as federal and state governments increase regulation to resolve safety issues.

The owner of Guardian Childcare and Education, Swiss giant Partners Group, has knocked back takeover approaches from Australian buyout firms Allegro Funds and BGH Capital and is instead in talks with Quadrant Private Equity, which operates the Affinity Education business, according to people briefed on the discussions who spoke on condition of anonymity.
